What’s Behind Door #1?

Scripture

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Devotional

On the way there: “There is NO way I’m driving this far every day!”

After arriving:  “That is so boring, I could never go to a swim meet!”

Fast forward 2 ½ years later, at a Championship meet, I watch my son finish the race claiming a coveted ZONE time, I see the entire team on the sidelines jumping up and down screaming for him.  He rips off his goggles, glances at the scoreboard and whips his head around to the team as a huge smile spreads across his face.  I start crying and can’t stop for half an hour, all the hard work he’s put in has paid off!

But, just imagine, if I had let my critical, original opinion leave me convinced that driving that far every day would never work, or that swim meets are too boring to attend?  My son would have never experienced the exhilaration of learning that he is a natural in the water and developed the confidence he now has, due to swimming.

What God has in store for our lives is a mystery.  Opening many different doors could lead to wonderful changes in our lives, but we have to be willing to open the door.  How many wonderful opportunities have you missed because you refused to open the door to the unfamiliar and unknown?  I encourage you to pray about your situation and then consider diving in!

Prayer

Lord, please help me to be brave enough to try new paths You put in front of me.  Amen.
